We're pleased to share with you our Autumn 2022 issue of FIRST by CAA. Learn what is happening in the Australasian Ambulance sector, and gain insight into innovative projects. Click below to read and download. 

Our CAA Congress website went live last week and we would love for you to have a look and find out what the three days of Congress will look like. We want to pay specific attention to one of our keynote speakers Dr Norman Swan, Australia's most respected health journalist. Read on to learn more about Dr Swan and what he'll be discussing at the CAA Congress.

Don't forget, our CAA 2022 Awards for Excellence submissions are open for submissions until April 14. With six different categories, the CAA Awards for Excellence allows us to highlight the important and innovative projects being implemented to help shape and improve the Australasian Ambulance sector.

Speaker Spotlight

Dr Norman Swan

Dr Norman Swan is one of our CAA Congress keynote speakers. Norman hosts The Health Report on the ABC's Radio National, which is the world's longest running health programme in the English speaking world. Norman has won many awards for his work including Australia's top prize for journalism, the Gold Walkley. He was the third person to be awarded the prestigious medal of the Australian Academy of Science and was given an honorary MD by the University of Sydney on its 150th Anniversary. 

Norman has consulted to the World Heath Organisation and co-chaired a global meeting of health ministers in Bamako West Africa focused on evidence based policy and priorities in health research. He has been the Australian correspondent for both the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and the British Medical Journal (BMJ).

Dr Swan will paint the picture of what health systems will look like in the next 5-10 years. He will review what the last two years of pandemic, demand management growth and health surge has done to the sector and how the systems need to adapt to be better for our patients, teams, and the public.

Call for Abstracts

We would like to invite you to submit an Abstract for consideration by the committee for inclusion in the CAA Congress 2022. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your knowledge, innovation, success stories, and ideas.

Submissions will be closing in just over 2 weeks on 31st March 2022.

All abstracts must be submitted via email to events@caa.net.au

With six categories, and an overall Star Award winner, the CAA Awards for Excellence gives everyone the opportunity to share their innovations to help elevate the Ambulance sector.

About The Council of Ambulance Authorities

The Council of Ambulance Authorities is the peak industry body for Australian, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea ambulance services. CAA represents a unified voice for the pre-hospital sector working to respond to changing community needs by collaborating on issues on metropolitan, regional, national and international significance, and works tirelessly to collaborate on the ambulance and pre-hospital issues of metropolitan, regional, national and international significance. 

The CAA was set up in 1962 to provide ambulance service CEOs with a networking opportunity to discuss issues, learnings and achievements current to the pre-hospital industry. Today the board consists of CEOs from each member service.

Member services collective knowledge and expertise provide a sound foundation to explore opportunities for improvement and innovation and to advocate on the sector's behalf in key areas.
